From numerous experiences with dog collars, this one achieves a durability that is beyond that of a standard dog training collar without a doubt. It’s strong enough to maintain its functionality over time, but is subject to tarnishes such as scratches and digs, which do not affect its performance but surely do affect its appearance. These tarnishes only appear after months of usage though, while the performance remains the same as the day you buy it. Overall, the collar is practical for people who only care about the maintenance of its performance over time, but would disappoint people that strive to maintain both performance and facade.
The range of the collar is decent, with the limit of the range being 900 feet. Within this given range the signal is strong, never failing to reach the receiver. I never found myself having to repeatedly click a button to effectively transmit a signal during my extensive use of the collar, which is a sign that the receiver has a well made signal detector. 900 feet is enough to cover a small to medium sized household and anything smaller than that, but not enough to cover homes that are on the larger side or for use in large farms or acreage.
The intensity of the shock and vibration can be regulated using the remote, which I find to be a unique feature because most of the collars I’ve tested out only allow you to regulate the shock, but not the vibration. The ability to change the degree of vibration comes in handy, especially for those who like to alternate between the shock and vibration. Each of these are ranked on a scale of 1 to 16.
The intensity of the vibration is mild in comparison to the shock, but is still enough to get a noticeable response from your dog when at its higher levels. It’s a good alternative to the shock, for people who are wary of using the shock.
The intensity of the shock ranges from mild to high, in terms of power. The lower levels aren’t that strong, which can be used for a stepping stool method to work up to the higher levels. The higher levels are evidently stronger than the highest level of the vibration. My observations and analysis of a multitude of collars has led me to believe that the more money you pay, the more intense the shock will likely be for that collar. What you do pay for with this collar, you get a maximum intensity that is still more intense than most of your typical middle grade collars, which is noteworthy.
This collar will work for dogs that are small to large in size, which means that it will work for every dog. The intensity range of 16 is practical, as it is sufficient for covering a wide range of dogs.
